Artrium Gallery has been a part of the charity since 2011. It’s ran by a team of volunteers and holds regular exhibitions and events - offering a space for our members, volunteers and local artists to exhibit, promote and have the opportunity to sell their work.

We’re all about supporting local artists and their wellbeing. We believe there’s an artist in everyone.

Featured Artists.

Gary Bell.

Gary previously worked with Spit! Comics but has now branched out into creating digital art pieces capturing the qualities of some well-loved faces in the music, comedy and horror scene. His work is featured as prints, t-shirts and soon on coasters and mugs.

Shirley Carruthers.

The collection of work was hand drawn by Artrium member Shirley Carruthers using pen and ink. Many of her pieces depict visions she sees in her dreams; others relate to her background.

Digitally enhanced by artist Jake Smith.

David Coser.

A collection of pieces on display and for sale from founding member David. He is a nationally recognised photographer who took up the hobby just before lockdown. His work focuses on street photography in and around Hartlepool.

    It is such a worthwhile charity, making a real difference to people’s lives and I have been involved on and off now for 12 years.

We’re not far off our Halloween exhibition this year.

All formats of art are welcomed to the annual celebration of all things creepy, spooky and kooky.

Wendy Powell.

Late artist Wendy’s collection of artworks has been lovingly donated by her husband to exhibit and celebrate her love of painting and mixed media.

Past Exhibitions.

  • Twilight Art Exihibition. Ages 10-16.

    An exhibition from our council funded summer scheme for all children aged 10 - 16. Work included sights from around the town, including sculptures, mosaic, stained glass, paintings and drawings.

  • Noticing the North. Holly Hide.

    An exhibition of photography and creative writing featuring sights and poetry celebrating North East England.

  • Billingham Woodcarvers. Peter Downham.

    A selection of work from craftsman Peter Downham, featuring relief, sculpture and sights from the North East England.

  • Nature & Rebirth. Artrium members.

    A mixture of artforms around Spring, nature and rebirth. All work was created by our members and features some fantastic creations from paintings, textiles, sculptures and more.

  • Pinhole Photography. Artrium members.

    A Paul Hamlyn Foundation funded project exploring the freedom of creating pinhole cameras and taking photographs.

  • Doodle & Stick. Eileen Johnston & Billy Nunn.

    A collection of work by two members, featuring Eileen’s love of painting and collage, and Billy’s iconic doodles.

  • Gowkfish Exhibition. Artrium members.

    There’s something in the water…resident artist Gary Whitlock’s create your own sea monster brought some amazingly creepy creations to the gallery with this exhibition.

  • All Things Creepy. Open Call.

    2021’s Halloween exhibition went down a storm with work featured from members, volunteers, Hartlepool 6th Form College and local artists.

  • Lockdown Art. Tom Payne.

    A selection of work created by member Tom. Featuring sculpture, collage, painting and more.

  • Selection. Keith Alder.

    A selection of work by member Keith, with some highly detailed pieces harping back to his working days and others from days out in the countryside.

  • Hobbies. Richard Lordon.

    This collection of work was created by member Richard during lockdown. It features work depicting his favourite places like Hartlepool football ground - Victoria Park.

  • Watercolour. Marc Featherstone.

    A collection of watercolour pieces by local artist Marc. His work is on sale in our shop and was part of a small exhibition in the gallery.

  • Hartlepool in Living Colour. Michael Dodds.

    A collection of work by founding member Michael, created during and after lockdown 2020. They depict some landmarks within Hartlepool town which Michael would often pass during walks out.
